In this session, Pastor George Mkandawire speaks on the very pertinent subject of Heritage. The background to this message is a series of teachings commenced by Apostle Thamo Naidoo on the need to migrate from a disposition of independence and isolation to being integrated into a spiritual family. In this session, we see how heritage is inherently linked to family.
The crux of this teaching is that God places us in families, both in the natural and the spiritual, in order that we may come into our heritage. A key verse that frames our mind in this particular teaching is Isaiah 54:17, No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the LORD.
Pastor George unfolds five elements that one receives from being in a family. Firstly, one received a Name. Ephesians 3:14-15, For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. he then goes on to explain that fellow brother and sisters are part of our heritage, so is Identity and Inheritance.
In closing, Pastor George provides some practical advice and suggestions as to how one ensures that the next generation comes into their inheritance. It is not so much the attitude and actions of the next generation that will determine their heritage but it’s how we raise the next generation. It’s not what we say, it’s what they see….
